Unless this is your first visit here, you already know that I’m a big fan of social networking. It allows me to stay in touch with contacts I’ve met offline as well as getting to know new people from many different industries from all over the world.

One of the things I enjoy about networking in general is acting as a resource person who can identify when it would be beneficial for two or more of my contacts to be connected. This happened twice in the past week alone.

The first situation took place on Facebook. One contact announced that she had launched a new book, and it occurred to me that one of my other friends might know people who would be interested in that book. As I set about introducing them, I realized that they actually have a lot in common, most significantly the fact that one of them recently moved quite near the other. So, while spreading the word about the new book, I also made a connection that may benefit both parties socially as well as professionally.

The second situation took place on Twitter. I recently started following someone whose newsletter I enjoyed many years ago, but stopped reading due to time constraints. One day she tweeted about needing help with a particular problem. I had previously had a similar problem and used the services of someone else I’d met on Twitter, and I was so pleased with the service that I joined the affiliate program. I therefore made a referral, through Twitter, using my affiliate link. It worked out well for both of them, and I earned some passive income!
