Introducing OA’s NEW Events Calendar

by Janet ~ October 31st, 2008. Filed under: Newsworthy Notes.

A couple of years ago, I discovered Trumba, an amazing free tool that allows you to post events and display a current list or calendar on your website. Unfortunately, Trumba Corporation realized what a wonderful resource it was, and started charging for it. Not a nice little price either, but $99.95 per month, which just didn’t make sense for my needs. I did without a calendar for a while, but added a new one using Localendar when I redesigned the Organized Assistant website earlier this year. Although it’s pretty easy to use and offers an RSS feed, it really wasn’t quite what I wanted.

Isn’t it funny how sometimes when you’re looking for something, you can’t find it, but then later it just shows up? That’s pretty well what happened when I discovered the Events Calendar Plugin for WordPress.

Because it requires a WordPress interface, we’ve moved the Events Calendar from our main website to The Organized Marketplace.

In the full page view, simply move your mouse over an event to view the details; click for more information and you’ll be taken to the appropriate website. There’s also a smaller view on the right side of the screen, where dates with posted events appear in red. Once again, you just mouse over the date to see basic information, then click for more details. You then have the option of clicking on the “link out” to the event’s website or to the post about that particular event on our site.

A big thanks goes to Scott who has entered a number of upcoming events for November and December. Be sure to bookmark the site or sign up to receive updates via email or RSS to see what’s in store for 2009! In addition to our own events, we post information about business networking and educational opportunities on behalf of our clients. Please contact me if you’re interested in promoting your events on our calendar.
