Free Guide to Personal Branding
by Janet ~ August 27th, 2008. Filed under: Fabulous Freebies.Earlier this summer, in my post titled Your Life Online, I touched on the subject of making sure you don’t post anything on your blog, social networking profile, or elsewhere on the Internet that you wouldn’t want seen by a potential client, employer, date, or your mother. There are of course two sides to this coin – your online presence is part of your personal brand, and what IS there is just as important as what is not.
I’ve just downloaded a copy of Ted Demopoulos’ free 40 page guide, Effective Internet Presence: Now required for success in business and life, and it’s full of helpful hints for making sure your online presence represents you effectively and reflects your personal brand, that is, what makes you special and unique.
As he says,
“Your personal brand will help attract the right people, organizations and opportunities, AND repel those that are inappropriate for you.”
If you’re into the Law of Attraction, you’ll really appreciate this concept.
With the steadily increasing number of people who rely on the Internet for information, this issue is important not only for those who operate an online business, but for everyone! There is a lot of information available on this topic, but as the author of What No One Ever Tells You About Blogging and Podcasting, which I also recommend, Demopoulos is a well-respected authority on the subject, and I was thrilled to learn that he has released this free resource. His e-book may be distributed freely, so this would be a great reference tool for career professionals to share with their clients.

Hi Janet,
Thanks for the kind words!
As for not posting anything online “that you wouldn’t want seen by a potential client, employer, date, or your mother,” of course you are 100% right. It’s sometimes easier said than done as many people find out.
I’m now off to read your post “Your Life Online.”

Ted, you’re so right. I know people who have posted things on what they thought was a private website, only to have it show up later in the search engines, and then there are “friends” who post stories or pictures about you!
